They talk about it!!!

Following are their testimony:

For me the DTS is like a springboard to enter in what God planes for me. I don’t know about you, but for me I had a bad image of who I am, and then of God too. Since the beginning the Lord had shown me that, I realized how much my attitude makes Him sad. Then little after little, I started to have a better image of my Heavenly Father and then of myself. I know today to better know me I should better know God! He, only, really knows who I really am. I’m discovering myself more and more day after day.

Annie from Canada

Hi, my name is Jacques and I am the only Guadeloupean of the DTS. To quickly start, I’ll say this: since the beginning God is shaking me as if I was in a shaker, or as if He was cleaning my hard disk. In short, to be a disciple it’s simple and difficult but gives good fruits. I already know that what is going to get out from God’s shaker will be excellent and it’s comfortable to be in.

Jacques from Guadeloupe (France)

There I realized what the clay was living into potter’s hands. clay, I lived intense repentances moments. My faith had been strengthen and I felt more free in a lot of little things that I was struggled with in my Christian life.
In short, I’m no longer the same and I let myself shape according to the desires of my divine potter. Thank God, for all what you’ve done in my life. Glory to the Lord, AMEN !

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR DEPARTURE TO THE SCHOOL

To prepare your school is always difficult, because it’s not efficient to think about everything without forgetting anything. We want to help you by answering those questions.

PLANE:

You better take a ticket plane according to the school dates, from the first theoretical phase day to the last practical phase day.
There’s only one international airport in Guadeloupe: « Pôle Caraïbes du Raizet / Pointe à Pitre le Raizet».

VISA:

If you are coming from countries of the European community or Switzerland you are not concern by getting a visa to come in Guadeloupe.

For countries out of the European community and out of Switzerland:

If you are coming from another country witch doesn’t need a tourist visa to come in France (3 months max.); as USA, Canada, South Korea, etc., you’ll only need to leave Guadeloupe for a while during the break time and come back for the practical phase (if this one is taking place in France, Guadeloupe, French Guyana or in Martinique). However Guadeloupe is surrounded with beautiful islands as Ste-Lucia or Dominica Island and those destinations are not too expensive.

For other countries:

If you are coming from a country witch need tourist visa for France (3 months visa max.). You will need a long term visa (6 months) to do your school here. We advice you to check with your embassy, and to do not hesitate to contact us for further informations.

ELECTRIC SYSTEM:

The electric system in Guadeloupe is the same and has the same norms as French system. Plugs are at 220 V, take adapter for France that will be OK.

MONEY:

Guadeloupe is part of the Euro zone, so we use the Euro money over the island. Caution, for people coming from France: French checks are not accepted. (conversion web site :www.xe.com)

Visa cards, Eurocard MasterCard are accepted everywhere and there are changes banks everywhere.

INTERNET:

A computer is available for the students and for those who have Wifi technology.

PHONE:

There are phone cabs near the school place, you can buy international phone cards from 5 €. You can use Skype to phone too.

TIME ZONE:

Guadeloupe is at - 04H (GMT). We have 5 H difference with Paris (ex.: 1.00 pm in Pointe à Pitre (Guadeloupe) = 6.00 pm in Paris).

BILINGUAL SCHOOL:

Our schools are bilingual (French/English), it’s the occasion for you to practice your French or your English. So, it’ll be good for you to have a little dictionary with the language you want to practice. Adding to that you’ll have the opportunity to discover Kriol.

PERSONAL THINGS:

You can take with you a lap-top, i-pod, etc. For those who play an instrument, you better come with it, if it’s possible for you to. Bring with you a note book, lap-top are accepted, but also some colour pencils, stick, scissors, everything to be creative, it’s essential.

Please don’t forget that you are not alone in your room, so take only the most important things.

PRACTICAL PHASE

According to the vision the Lord has given us, we propose 6 destinations. Of course, they will be definitely adopted during the school, after a prayer time together (students and staff). The final destinations depend of the school and the students’ number.

HAITI

We’d like to invest in the oldest black republic in the world. We started working with Ywam-Jacmel (town situated in the South of the country), to help this pioneer work. Therefore, we’d like to work with other Ywam centre: Ywam located in Gonaives and in St-Marc. Marc. Actions type are : evangelism, social actions, etc..

CUBA*

The biggest island and the biggest Caribbean country, and also the last communists’ places; but also an island full of God’s Hope.

*Because we couldn’t stay more than 4 weeks in Cuba, we’ll probably finish the practical phase time (6 to 7 weeks) in Guadeloupe and in Martinique.

FRENCH GUYANA

It’s the biggest French department and also the place where Arianne Rocket is based. But it’s also a country full of color, it’s a real population mosaic. There still have tribes populations where the Gospel is not already spread. It’s a pioneer work waiting on us, with thousands ways of evangelism.

FRANCE

Against all though, the fifth world power, Moliere country and Man Rights, keeps a mission land. The Lord has touched our heart regarding « ghettos places » in the great towns as Lyon, the Paris suburbs, Paris and Marseille, etc.

Schedule: Urban and social action evangelism.

BURKINA FASO

This wonderful West Africa country is victim of injustice witch break through God’s heart. Jesus has told us to take of children, and curse those who hurt them. Their names are « Garibous », from their young age, they’ve been given to a man in order that he teaches them Koran, but instead of that he obliged them to ask for money in streets and to give him back all the money. No limit pour les Kids it’s a Christian association witch is partner with other associations in Burkina witch work for those children’s. We’d like to do evangelism in a « classic »way, and participate to the work with them. >>No limit pour les kids<<

DESTINATION X

It’s a surprise destination, yes, God’s surprise. We want to stay open to receive our God’s surprises. This destination doesn’t change the vision God has given us, it obliges us to be aware of His Voice.

Of course, the propositions schedule of each destination is just an idea of what we could do. If you want to do your DTS in Guadeloupe, get prepare to go in one of those nations.

QUESTIONS/ANSWERS

Does the school only in French?

No, all our DTS are bilingual (French/English), lectures, small groups, all is translated. In two languages it’s more riche...

What are we doing between the two phases?

Generally we are all going somewhere. Most often, Guadeloupean people invite the students who couldn’t back to their home for the feast.

How long is the practical phase?

Generally, on YWAM-Guadeloupe we go for a missionary trip of 10 to 12 weeks with a debriefing week in Guadeloupe.

How do we do for vaccinations and visas for this phase?

If we need vaccinations, they’ll be taken in Guadeloupe, because we decide together about the destinations. Medical centres in Guadeloupe are submit to Europeans norms and are good in quality. Vaccinations and visas are not included in the school price.

How to do if we don’t speak the language of the practical phase country?

We’ll have a translator with us (the team) during all our moving. If the team is bilingual and none of them is look like the country one, we’ll translate twice. But we will always to our best to break this language barrier.
